The wall-mount swing-gate racks are designed to spare users from pulling a floor cabinet away from a wall and rotating it to reach the back of equipment.

IRVINE, Calif.—A supplier of wired and wireless connectivity products recently introduced new wall-mount swing-gate racks that reportedly enable users to position their 19-inch-wide rack gear “off the floor and out of the way” while retaining “instant access to it from all sides.”

The supplier, ShowMeCables, is an Infinite Electronics brand that manufactures cable assembly and connectivity products for the electronics and data communications industries. In addition to cable assemblies and connectors, the company’s products include adapters, antennas, enclosures, surge protectors, and more.

According to a release from ShowMeCables, the black swing-gate enclosures and open-frame racks have a rear frame that mounts to a wall. Hinges on one side of the rear frame allow the entire unit to swing out from the wall for quick access to cables and ports on the back of components. The design saves users from having to pull a floor cabinet away from a wall and rotate it to reach the back of equipment.

The design is especially useful where space is limited, such as network closets, small offices, retail locations, classrooms, and hallways, the manufacturer said in the release.

“Though wall-mounted racks are very space-efficient, they sometimes make it harder to access your equipment,” said ShowMeCables Product Line Manager Tim Houghton, in the release. “But our swing-gate wall-mounts solve that, with instant access to all your rear cable ports.”

ShowMeCables’ wall-mount swing-gate racks are offered in two main designs: enclosed cabinets or open-frame racks. All are made of robust cold-rolled steel with a durable black powder-coated finish and square-hole cage-nut mounting. The rear hinges are reversible to best adapt to any room configuration, the release stated.

The enclosed cabinets have capacity options of 6U, 9U, or 12U. To accommodate an array of equipment sizes and space constraints, they come in four exterior depth options of 18, 22, 24, and 26 inches. Inside the cabinets, the rack depths are adjustable, allowing users to choose from models with maximum depths of 12, 16, 18.5, or 20 inches. Each enclosure has a weight capacity of either 150 or 200 pounds, the company said.

The enclosed cabinets have either a perforated metal front door for added ventilation or a tempered-glass door that enables monitoring of components. The enclosures with glass doors also include two built-in electric fans in the top panel. Both door styles can be hinged on the right or left and are lockable. Locks are also included on the rear swing gate and on each removable side panel, according to the release.

The new swing-gate open-frame racks are reported to have an exterior depth of 24 inches and a rail depth that adjusts out to 22 inches. They come in capacities of 9U, 12U, or 15U, and they can  solidly hold up to 110 pounds, the company said.
