Gemstar Manufacturing employs its precision, robotic rotational molding technology to manufacture the shock-resistant cases.

CANNON FALLS, Minn.—Gemstar Manufacturing recently expanded its Stronghold® hard case line with the introduction of its new, domestically manufactured RoboRack™ Half-Rack Mount Cases, the company said in a release on its website.

The RoboRack cases are described as military-grade, shock-resistant half-rack cases that are designed specifically to mount sensitive electronic components for transport and field use. They protect electronics from physical shock, vibration, moisture, dust, and other contaminants in applications such as military, industrial and commercial vehicles, airplanes, railcars, and other mobile applications. The cases are designed, tested, and manufactured in the United States, the company said.

According to Gemstar Manufacturing, the hard cases can be used off-the-shelf or configured as needed for specific equipment. The company is introducing the RoboRack cases in two half-rack sizes: 5U and 7U.

The RoboRack double-walled hard cases are reported to be airtight, watertight, and built to withstand years of use and abuse. Gemstar manufactures the cases with its proprietary Robomold® manufacturing technology, a robotic rotational molding (rotomolding) process, using GSR™ (LLDPE) high-performance resin. The cases are manufactured with heavy-duty latches, rubberized spring-loaded handles, and recessed hardware. They offer stacking compatibility, fully removable lids that hang on the sides, and are said to have a payload of 20 to 150 pounds.

This military-grade case is designed and tested to meet or exceed MIL-STD 810G and military Long Life Reusable Case (LLRC) standards. RoboRack cases can be customized to meet customer specifications for size, load, and g-rating (g-force). Edge wheels and an extendable handle are standard for additional flexibility in moving electronics, according to Gemstar.

“RoboRack cases are the perfect solution to transporting sensitive electronics,” said Gemstar Manufacturing Director of Product Kevin Paulson, in the release. “Our design controls shock and vibration to ensure that electronics are unharmed and perform as expected upon arrival.”

Gemstar designs, creates, and tests highly technical products “to meet any industrial or commercial application.” The company said it is proud to be the first manufacturer in the United States to offer robotic rotational molding. Its proprietary Robomold manufacturing technology provides precision plastic products with fully automated capabilities.

“Robomold technology provides product consistency and repeatability, material control, and superior quality. This technology allows Gemstar to produce cutting-edge plastic solutions, such as multi-layer products not previously available in conventional rotational molding,” the company said.
