MUMBAI, India—A new 3D printer ecosystem from Formlabs is reported to offer a combination of high speed, precision, and accuracy, boosting productivity and enabling users to take design risks and accelerate time to market.

Formlabs’ Form 4 resin 3D printer and its biocompatible version, Form 4B, are powered by the company’s Low Force Display™ (LFD) Print Engine, which turns liquid resin into printed parts, the company’s website states.

Formlabs CEO and Co-Founder Max Lobovsky said the Form 4’s reliability and new level of speed—capable of delivering most parts in less than two hours—will transform how customers develop new products.

“Form 4 marks a significant advancement for the entire 3D printing landscape,” Lobovsky said  in a company release. “We’ve built on the strength and insights gathered from more than 130,000 printers on the market and over 300 million parts printed to deliver the Form 4, our best SLA printer ever.”

According to Formlabs, the Form 4 leverages masked stereolithography (mSLA) technology that enables print speeds up to five times faster than the Formlabs Form 3+ Printer. Its LFD print engine features an ultra-high-power backlight, proprietary release texture, Light Processing Unit 4 (LPU 4), and dual-layer resin tank. Print success rate is ensured by validated settings, precision heating, force sensing, and debris detection, the company said.

Along with the new printer, Formlabs introduced six new resins to its library. They include reformulated General Purpose Resins and specialized options like Fast Model Resin and Precision Model Resin, with applications in the dental industry. Form 4 is validated to use more than 17 other materials from its library, and 15 additional biocompatible materials are compatible with Form 4B, the company said.
