The assemblies are for the US Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Aircraft.

BAY SHORE, N.Y.— Air Industries Group, a manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for large aerospace and defense prime contractors, stated in a release that it secured a follow-on contract valued at over $11 million for landing gear assemblies for the U.S. Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.

Air Industries has been a key supplier to the E-2 family of aircraft for decades, underscoring its long-standing role in supporting critical defense programs. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, upon the arrival of raw materials. Delivery of finished product is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026, the release stated.

“The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is a mission-critical platform for the U.S. Navy, managing the airspace surrounding a Carrier Battle Group by identifying threats and coordinating aircraft movements,” said Lou Melluzzo, chief executive officer of Air Industries Group, in the release. “This contract grew in size during negotiations, reflecting the ongoing importance of the aircraft not only to the Navy but also to an expanding number of foreign military customers.

“The E-2D has been a cornerstone of Air Industries’ operations for many years,” Melluzzo continued. “This follow-on contract reaffirms our customer’s trust in our capabilities, reliability, and performance. We are proud to continue supporting this vital program for both domestic and international defense needs.”

Air Industries also stated in an early January release that it received another contract worth $2.6 million dollars for the main landing gear assemblies of the U.S. Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft. This new award is for some of the same products, but from a different customer.

“The prior award (in December) was to support production of new aircraft; this award is for aftermarket maintenance, repair, or overhaul of existing aircraft already in service,” the company said in the release.

“Production of new E-2D aircraft continues, and there are numerous aircraft in the US Navy fleet,” Melluzzo said in the release. “The aircraft is expected to remain in service into the 2040s. We have supported this program for decades, and we look forward to supporting it for many years to come. This new award supports our aftermarket initiative for this and other programs, and it is consistent with our plan to broaden our support of international customers.

“The business development initiatives we began in 2023 are bearing fruit,” Melluzzo continued. “For all of calendar 2024, our bookings of new business have been strongly more than our billings. In December 2024 alone, we have announced three new contracts worth over $45 million dollars. Bookings lead to backlog, backlog leads to shipping and revenue. We are increasingly confident about our future.”

Air Industries Group’s products include landing gears, flight controls, engine mounts, and components for aircraft jet engines, ground turbines, and other complex machines. Whether it is a small individual component or complete assembly, the company’s “high quality and extremely reliable products are used in mission critical operations that are essential for the safety of military personnel and civilians,” the release stated.
