ORLANDO, Fla.—Laser Photonics Corporation (LPC) reported that it sold a CleanTech Industrial Roughening Laser 3050 (CTIR-3050) to the powder coating services provider Thermodyne Powder Coating.
The CTIR-3050 is described as LPC’s “most powerful handheld laser system, offering top speed and efficiency for heavy-duty surface treatment applications.” The system will be used at Thermodyne’s facility to streamline and enhance pretreatment processes, LPC said in a release.
Laser Photonics is a global developer of industrial laser systems for cleaning and other material processing applications. Thermodyne Powder Coating is a Pensacola, Florida-based provider of powder coating services that works with companies in numerous industries, especially those in the maritime sector.
Thermodyne specializes in applying a custom-formulated powder coating that is baked to create a durable, protective, and attractive finish. The powders, made from resin mixed with pigments, are melted at precise temperatures and cured into a tough, versatile coating. Although not indestructible, powder coat finishes are reported to be stronger, thicker, and offer better coverage than most standard paints.
Marine craft and structures in coastal regions, such as Florida, are subjected to harsh conditions via their exposure to saltwater, sun, and air. Thermodyne’s marine-grade powder coating protects parts, boats, docks, and structures from corrosion while preserving their appearance.
In addition to the maritime sector, Thermodyne’s clients include hotels, resorts, homeowner associations, condominium complexes, and the auto restoration industry.
“Pretreatment is crucial for successful powder coating,” stated Wayne Tupuola, CEO of Laser Photonics Corporation, in the release. “We are delighted to provide Thermodyne with our sustainable and efficient laser cleaning technology to help them streamline pretreatment processes, particularly corrosion removal. Our technologies and corporate values align perfectly with Thermodyne’s goals to enhance safety and protect assets for their customers and within their own operations.”
