Flowfinity is offering pre-integrated hardware and software that can be retrofitted to existing facilities without any coding, the company said.
VANCOUVER, B.C.— As the manufacturing sector increasingly embraces industrial IoT (internet of things) for monitoring and control, Flowfinity is helping manufacturers gain a competitive advantage by removing barriers to entry for their IoT deployments at existing facilities, the company said in a release.
Flowfinity, the developer of a no-code platform and a provider of IoT products to industry, reported that 85 percent of surveyed leaders are implementing or planning to implement IoT within the next few years. In an inflationary environment, the need to maximize asset return on investment (ROI) while minimizing lost profitability from unplanned downtime and material waste has never been greater, according to the release.
However, many IoT deployments are often limited to simple data collection. The significant complexity and cost of upgrading equipment to integrate machine data into workflows, and of automating processes remains challenging for all but the most sophisticated firms. Because of this, Flowfinity is offering pre-integrated hardware and software that can be retrofitted to existing facilities without any coding, the company said in the release.
Now, advanced IoT technology is accessible to firms of all sizes, seamlessly connecting people and processes with machine data for enhanced efficiency, reduced material waste, and extended asset lifecycles, the company said.
“Flowfinity IoT solutions are designed to reduce the cost and complexity of upgrading manufacturing facilities at any scale,” said Flowfinity Vice President Larry Wilson, in the release. “Our pre-integrated M1 Controllers and Streams database collect and process high-frequency IoT sensor data into an optimized time-series database, driving business process automation and 24/7 asset monitoring to help any manufacturer reduce costs and gain competitive advantage.”
One critical benefit of adopting IoT technology, according to Flowfinity, is improved maintenance, which prolongs the lifecycle of manufacturing equipment. Another is reducing waste to address the rising cost of materials and energy, which has hit manufacturers particularly hard.
Flowfinity said that its IoT products provide continuous data streams for real-time machine monitoring to enable more proactive maintenance. At the same time, process automation via edge computing helps minimize waste and excess energy consumption. The company said its no-code platform is intuitive, and it is based on four pillars of data management: accurate data collection, interactive data visualization, workflow automation, and system integration.
