Kilmarnock, Virginia-based facility to have uninterrupted operations to serve its customer base
FREDERICK, Md.—Electronics manufacturing services provider American Computer Development, Inc. (ACDi) recently expanded its East Coast presence and manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of a fourth manufacturing plant in Kilmarnock, Virginia, ACDi said in a release.
The company said it signed an asset purchase agreement with QinetiQ to acquire its Virginia facility and its assets, including surface mount technology (SMT), wave soldering, automated optical inspection (AOI), and solder paste inspection (SPI) equipment. The deal brings ACDi to four East Coast locations, with a total of nine SMT lines.
Along with the asset purchase will be the addition of all manufacturing employees and several new customers. ACDi will continue to build products for the customers previously served at the Kilmarnock, Virginia location (140 Technology Park Drive), to its AS9100 quality certification standards. The company said it plans to add new customers and personnel to meet growing demand for its capabilities.
“This deal not only allows us to add new customers and expand our capacity to better serve existing customers, but it provides an opportunity for skilled labor hiring in the Kilmarnock, Virginia region,” said ACDi President and CEO Bill Hornbaker, in the release. “This manufacturing plant addition is part of our growth strategy and goal to be the premier provider of electronics manufacturing services on the East Coast.”
“We are thrilled to welcome a leading provider of electronics manufacturing services to Kilmarnock,” said Kilmarnock Mayor Shawn Donahue, in the release. “ACDi’s commitment to growth and excellence aligns perfectly with Kilmarnock’s spirit.
