Optical Support, Inc., will provide custom optical subsystems to GEOST.
TUCSON, Ariz.—Optical Support, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by GEOST, LLC to design, build, and rapidly deliver custom optical subsystems for a low-SWAP-C (low size, weight, power, and cost) payload that will be part of a multi-satellite constellation operated by the National Security community, according to a release from OSI.
Optical Support, Inc., is an engineering services company that specializes in design and manufacturing of precision optical instruments and custom metrology tooling, the company’s brochure states. Products designed and manufactured by OSI include precision lenses, sensors, interferometers, optical test equipment, and system alignment tools.
“OSI is uniquely positioned to rapidly develop and deliver the precision spaceflight optical subsystems needed by national security customers at a fraction of the time and cost from traditional vendors,” said OSI President Michael Savard, in the release. “We now have several years of spaceflight heritage with multiple optical products on orbit, successfully fulfilling their mission profiles.”
The company offers optical and mechanical design services, in-house CNC fabrication, and assembly capabilities from the visible (VIS) to long-wave infrared (LWIR), with “precision to microns to achieve the critical performance specifications of its customers,” the company said in the release.
Founded in 2002, OSI serves the aerospace and defense, commercial sensing, semiconductor, entertainment, and biomedical markets. It employs approximately 35 professionals, the company said.
